Working people in the United States for the past century have seldom been active in the educational or the philanthropic foundations. Nor have trade unions built an innovative record of participation in these institutions. Aware of these twin realities, several San Francisco - Bay Area individuals joined hands in the summer of 2000 to form the Fund for Labor Culture & History. In November of 2011, the Board of Directors took action to honor Archie Green, by renaming the "Fund" to the "Archie Green Fund for Labor Culture & History."
